Ayub Din to mentor fund for first-time filmmakers

Ayub DinAyub DinAyub Khan Din, the writer of Award-winning comedy 'East is East', about the conflict between a Pakistani father and his mixed race family in Salford, 1971, will mentor the budding screenwriters for a new film fund initiated by the UK Film Council. The Council's new Development Fund programme for first-time filmmakers has made its first awards to talent and projects reflecting the fund's ambition to open up opportunities for budding writers and filmmakers across the UK. LA- California (USA). There was a time when Julia Roberts reportedly charged $20 million per film after the success of 'Pretty Woman'. But those were the days. Move over baby. Oscar winner Angelina Jolie has become the highest-earning female star in Hollywood, but she is still behind the Julia Roberts benmark as pay checks have slumped in 2008. Jolie, 33, earned $15m for the action movie 'Wanted' this year, and could make $20m in a possible sequel, according to Hollywood Reporter.  Read more »
